I’ve recently discovered how much I love book clubs. I don’t have many local friends that love to read or have the time, so it never occurred to me to be a part of one. Since I joined Instagram, I’ve joined six book clubs and two buddy reads – it’s SO MUCH FUN!! I’m the type of person that likes to read 3+ books at a time and I’ve noticed since I joined these groups that I focus on the immediate book in need of finishing. It’s a great motivation! Plus, the book community on Instagram, aka Bookstagram, is warm and wonderful, and has brought me so much joy – I am truly grateful.
Here are the book clubs I love on Instagram:
Salt Water Reads (@saltwaterreads)
“Southern Coastal Book Club dreaming of a beachfront bookstore.” Curated by the lovely ladies Kourtney from kourtneysbookshelf.com and Stacey from proseandpalate.com. I love this book club!! It has been three months and I have been equally excited about each selection: Cocoa Beach by Beatriz Williams, Gather the Daughters by Jennie Melamed and The Other Alcott by Elise Hooper (release date September 5th). What I love is the variety and quality of each selection. Also, they feature giveaways and the authors attend the club discussion at the end of the month!! Love love love!! Highly recommend!!
Criminally Good Book Club (@criminallygoodbookclub)
The hosts are @keeperofpages and @b00ksinparadise. Janel Haley (keeperofpages), is so incredibly nice and has amazing taste in books! I love this book club because every crime thriller selected has been unique and interesting. Also, members get to vote months in advance for the next book selections which is really fun! This month we are reading Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine and Unsub by Meg Gardiner in October. Both of these look amazing! Any fans of crime reads should definitely join!!
Belletrist (@belletrist)
Created by Karah Preiss (@kpreiss) and Emma Roberts (@emmaroberts). I LOVE this book club because they have pick some amazing and thought-provoking books. Every month I wait and wait to see what the next selection will be. Some of my favorite books I’ve read are from Belletrist: Marlena by Julie Buntin, Touch by Courtney Maum, The Rules Do Not Apply by April Levy, Sex and Rage by Eve Babitz. This month we are reading two books: Stay With Me by Ayobami Adebayo selected by Karah Preiss and The Answers by Catherine Lacey selected by Emma Roberts. I’m so excited to read both of these!! Check out belletrist.com for more details. You can also sign up to receive emails that includes great interviews and quotes
RW Book Club (@rwbookclub)
Created by the beautiful Reese Witherspoon. I’ve read some wonderful books from this club: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman and The Alice Network by Kate Quinn – I absolutely LOVED both of these books!! The most recent book selected is The Lying Game by Ruth Ware – I’ve read Ware’s other books and am definitely interested in checking this one out!
The Diverse Books Club (@diversebooksclub)
The newest addition to my obsession was created by Madeleine from topshelftext.blogspot.com. “We are a group of readers dedicated to diverse literature of all kinds.” I love this book club because it is focused on one important aspect, diversity, which is so important right now considering our current political climate. I love that it features three categories of books in all different age groups including Adult, Young Adult, and Middle Grade. It just started September 1st so I can’t tell you exactly what I think yet but based on these September selections I’d say we’re off to a great start: The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead, The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas and, Stella by Starlight by Sharon M. Draper. They also have a group on Goodreads which I suggest you join!
Crime by the Book (CBTB Book Club)
Abby, “A girl investigates crime fiction from around the world, by the book”, started a book club on Facebook called the CBTB Book Club. The first selection is The Snowman by Jo Nesbo. I get my copy next week – SO EXCITED to read this one!! It’s my first Nesbo but I’ve heard wonderful things about his books! Also, there is going to be a movie out soon and It’s always fun to read a book and then see the movie! You can also follow Abby on Instagram at @crimebythebook
So, what are you waiting for??
Join one, a few, or all of these clubs today! You’ll read some great books and meet some amazing people in the process!
