Thank you @tlcbooktours and @harlequinbooks for my free copy of ONCE A LIAR by A.F. Brady
I always have a fun time reading from the mind of a sociopath and that’s what you get with Brady’s latest book.
Peter Caine is a successful New York defense attorney who is at the top of his game. He’s a sociopath so he has no problem defending rapists, murderers, and pedophiles. Peter is so wrapped up in his own wealth and success he starts to ignore the people around him. He has a wife, a son, extramarital affairs, and a long list of enemies. All of this starts to catch up with him when the daughter of the district attorney and an old flame of Peter’s, Charlotte Doyle, is found murdered.
The book is constructed into dual timelines: then and now. We follow our narrator Peter and you really get a sense of what it’s like to be inside the mind of a truly disturbed individual. This is a slow burn, but oddly enough, a compulsive page turner – I could not put it down. If you enjoy an unreliable narrator that you will love to hate, then ONCE A LIAR is one you’ll definitely want to pick up!
