My Review:
This book is wicked, unsettling, and downright terrifying, but in the best way. The story centers around Ezekiel Woods Jr., also known as Zeke, who is a direct descendent of a 19th century vigilante group called the Bald Knobbers. In God’s name, they try to rid the world of women who they deem sinful, by kidnapping and torturing them. However, one woman manages to escape and now Zeke is on the hunt to find her.
Grave’s book is a perfect blend of horror and thriller. It is an action-packed, edge-of-your-seat book that will make you gasp. And what makes this book so terrifying is its realism; think Manson family realistic. Cults have always interested me because I am fascinated by human behavior and there is a lot of psychology behind both the cult leader and his followers’ actions. It’s just so crazy how a person can perform evil acts blindly in the name of religion. Which is exactly how Zeke behaves in this book. He truly believes he is preparing these women for their ultimate fate, redemption or death.
I highly recommend THE SINNER to anyone who loves reading horror and dark thrillers. If you enjoy reading about religious cults in a story that leaves you with a creepy and horrifying feeling then THE SINNER is definitely for you! I will undoubtedly be reading more from this author!
