Review: BRING HER HOME by David Bell

Thank you so much to Get Red PR and Berkley Publishing, an imprint of Penguin Random House, for my free copy – all opinions are my own.

Summary:

Bill Price lost his wife in a tragic accident a year and a half ago. Now his fifteen-year-old daughter Summer, and her best friend Haley, are missing. In a matter of days, both girls are recovered at a park, Haley found dead, while Summer has been beaten up beyond recognition.

While Summer is unconscious laying in a hospital bed, Bill tries to piece together what has happened to his daughter. Who took her? Where has she been? As he starts to ask questions, he feels as if he knows nothing about his daughter’s life. Old wounds start to surface and he is not prepared for what he finds!

“Her most recent school portrait, one in which her smile appeared so wholesome, she looked like the all-American girl. Some of the words jumped out at him from the notes: We love you…. We miss you…. Our thoughts and prayers…. Bring her home….”

My Review:

I love everything about this book! At the end of every chapter, there is a new cliffhanger and more questions to be answered. I didn’t know what to expect because I’ve read so many mysteries and thrillers – sometimes there is too much hype or it’s too formulaic. But not this one! Bell’s writing is genius! Some might think the dialogue is a bit repetitious but I think it was exactly what was needed. I was so engrossed in Bill Price’s thoughts and dialogue that I never saw that jaw-dropping moment coming. That’s a true testament to great writing! It’s difficult to say whether or not Price is a likable character – he’s a bit of a hot head, but you can definitely empathize with him and especially under these tragic circumstances. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fast-paced, fun read with short, captivating chapters!! In other words… READ THIS BOOK!

I rate this book 5 / 5 stars!
